Changing the Game: Brewers Call Up Monasterio and Hudson, Dismiss Capra

TAMPA, Fla. – The Milwaukee Brewers have restructured their options in the infield with significant moves.

The team called up Andruw Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville and designated Vinny Capra for assignment this Friday.

Also, before Friday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Brewers called up left-handed pitcher Bryan Hudson from Nashville.

Monasterio, who played 92 games for the Brewers in 2023 and 59 last season, had been in the minor leagues this year. In 30 games with Nashville, he batted .250 with an on-base percentage of .346, four home runs, 11 RBIs, and eight stolen bases.

Monasterio, who will turn 28 on May 30, played primarily as a shortstop in Nashville this year, but has started in the majors mainly at third base or second base.

In 151 games of his Major League career, he has batted .243 with an on-base percentage of .322, four home runs, 43 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases.

Hudson, also 28, went 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA in 11 appearances with Milwaukee earlier this season. In addition, he is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in four games with Nashville.

Last season, Hudson went 6-1 with a 1.73 ERA in 43 relief appearances with the Brewers.

Capra, 28, batted .074 with an on-base percentage of .121, one home run, four RBIs, and one stolen base in 24 games with Milwaukee. He played primarily at third base, but also made appearances at second base and shortstop.
