Harrison Bader Could Play Game 2 for the Phillies Despite Injury

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader could be available for Game 2 of the National League Division Series on Monday, after suffering a groin injury during Saturday’s Game 1. Phillies manager Rob Thomson reported on Sunday that imaging tests revealed no significant tear or strain in Bader’s groin. Thomson indicated that the team will have a better idea on Monday about the possibility of Bader, who established himself in center field and became a fan favorite, being able to start or, at least, be used as a pinch hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

I think after the game they stretched it and got it moving a little bit. I think he felt a lot better after that.

Bader made one of the most outstanding plays of Game 1 when he dove to his left to catch a hit by Andy Pages in the fifth inning. Bader, who also hit a sacrifice fly, stated that he felt tension running the bases later in the game.

This is the point in the season where you just empty the tank.

In the event that Bader is unable to play in Game 2, Nick Castellanos would likely return to the starting lineup in right field, with Brandon Marsh in center field.
