Roman Anthony: The Red Sox Prospect Who’s Killing It

Boston Red Sox fans eagerly await the call-up to the Major Leagues of their top prospect, Roman Anthony.

On Saturday night, Anthony showed once again why he is so promising. In an International League game with the Triple-A Worcester team, Anthony hit a 497-foot home run, a grand slam that left everyone speechless, in the WooSox’s 10-4 victory over Rochester.

The 21-year-old’s hit put the WooSox up 9-4 in the eighth inning, when he connected with a 91.1 mph fastball from Carlos Romero, sending the ball over the right-center field wall. The ball left his bat at 115.6 mph.

According to Statcast, this was the longest home run in affiliated baseball so far this season.

I connected it and didn’t really fail it. It was great.

That ball was murdered.

In the majors, only one home run has surpassed 475 feet in 2025, one of 484 feet hit by Mike Trout on April 19.

Since Statcast began recording data in Major League Baseball in 2015, only Nomar Mazara (505 feet in 2019), Giancarlo Stanton (504 feet in 2016), C.J. Cron (504 feet in 2022), and Christian Yelich (499 feet in 2022) have hit longer home runs than Anthony’s on Saturday night. Selected in the second round of the 2022 amateur draft, Anthony is batting .290 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs in 57 games this season. He has hit two grand slams.
