At the Mizuho Americas Open, Jeeno Thitikul showcased his skills by navigating the wind and a double bogey, achieving nine birdies on Saturday, which secured him a 65 (-7) and a one-stroke lead over Celine Boutier.
Defending champion Nelly Korda, with a 68, is two strokes behind the leader, seeking her first victory of the year.
The course was adapted to the strong wind, modifying the starting positions, which resulted in exciting finishes.
Thitikul, the world number two, took advantage of the situation, accumulating birdies and finishing with a total of -14 (202).
Today’s strategies, I tried to keep the ball in the fairway and then on the green. I know it will be a tough day and I will have to be patient. I don’t know how I did it, but I accept it.

Boutier, with a 40-foot birdie, strung together three consecutive birdies, finishing with a 66, one stroke behind the leader.
It was a good game plan today. It was challenging with the wind, but the design allowed for opportunities if you hit it well.

Korda, for his part, tried to keep the pace, but settled for par on the 16th hole. He finished with a birdie on the 17th and was close to achieving another on the 18th.
You just have to focus on a small goal and be 100% focused on each shot. You know you’re going to make mistakes. I had a pretty solid day.

Andrea Lee and Yealimi Noh also stood out, with 68 and 67 strokes respectively, placing themselves three strokes behind the leader.
Thitikul, after a promising start, reacted to a double bogey with two birdies, maintaining her lead.
On Sunday, the Mizuho Americas Open will shift its schedule to accommodate television, with a planned finish at 3 p.m.
Less wind is expected. I assume the results will be lower. We’ll see what happens, but I’m happy to be in this position.
