The PGA Championship: Scheffler and McIlroy, the favorites at Quail Hollow

The PGA Championship is shaping up to be the next major event in the world of golf, and all eyes will be on the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

It’s no surprise that the two main favorites are Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.

Scheffler (+450) had a somewhat slow start to the year, but achieved his first victory of the season last weekend at the CJ Cup on the PGA Tour. He could build on this recent success to lead the standings in Charlotte. Scheffler did not compete in the Truist Championship to rest and prepare for the PGA Championship.

McIlroy (+475), on the other hand, arrives after his first Masters win, thus completing his career Grand Slam. A victory at Quail Hollow could be the next step towards achieving the modern Grand Slam in the same calendar year.

The current PGA Championship champion, Xander Schauffele (+1800), will also be present, along with Bryson DeChambeau (+1200), Ludvig Åberg (+1600) and Collin Morikawa (+1800), who complete the list of top contenders.

The first round will begin on Thursday, May 15.
