John Daly Moves to Topgolf During the Masters

Golfer John Daly, known for his charisma and connection with fans, has announced a change in his traditional meeting place during Masters week. Due to the demolition of the Hooters restaurant on Washington Road, where Daly used to set up his “shop” for 28 years, the two-time major champion will now bring his energy to Topgolf Augusta. Topgolf Augusta, located about 5 kilometers from Augusta National, near the South Carolina border, will be the new stage for Daly. He will be present on Thursday and Friday of Masters week, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET, making it his own 19th hole.

This week has always been as much for the fans as it is for golf, and I’ve had many great nights out with them over the years. This time we’ll take that energy to Topgolf, where people can grab a drink, take some swings, and just have a good time together.

Daly, who hasn’t played in the Masters since 2006, remains an emblematic figure for fans, signing autographs and taking photos every year. In his last stay at Hooters, Daly was dedicated to “eating good food, smoking, and selling things”. According to his team, in 2024, Daly generated around $780,000 in sales at the Hooters patio. Among the items he offered were caps with illustrations of his face, “Short Game” cigarette boxes at $250, signed golf balls at $10, photos, t-shirts, and replica flags of his victory at the 1991 PGA Championship.
