Linn Grant conquers The Annika with a dominant performance

Swedish golfer Linn Grant demonstrated exceptional control in her game, culminating in a victory at The Annika with a score of 5 under par (65) for a total of three strokes ahead of Jennifer Kupcho. This victory represents Grant’s second LPGA title, and the second time she has received the trophy from the legendary Swedish golfer and tournament host, Annika Sorenstam.

“You made this field look easy. It’s not easy,” Sorenstam commented to Grant on the 18th hole.

Grant maintained an impressive streak of 52 consecutive holes without making a bogey, which finally came to an end on the last hole, although by that time the victory was already assured. He finished the tournament with a total of 19 under par (261). The Swedish golfer expressed her satisfaction with the performance, highlighting the feeling of satisfaction upon finishing the tournament with a victory. Grant remembered his childhood, when he attended Sorenstam’s clinics in Sweden, which gave a special meaning to this victory.

Kupcho, although she started with a birdie, couldn’t keep up with Grant, who took the lead on the second hole and didn’t let go. Grant consolidated her lead with a birdie on the ninth hole, increasing the distance to three strokes, a difference that Kupcho couldn’t reduce. Gaby Lopez, from Mexico, achieved third place with a round of 65, including birdies on four of the last six holes. Brooke Matthews also had a memorable weekend, achieving a hole-in-one that earned her a two-year lease for a Lamborghini Huracán. In addition, she achieved an eagle, which led to a tie for ninth place and secured her a spot in the CME Group Tour Championship.

“It was incredible. All week I was saying, ‘I want to win the Lamborghini.’ … I still can’t believe it. I can’t wait to see it on video because I still don’t remember it,” Matthews said.

Nelly Korda, the defending champion, couldn’t compete with Grant and finished in 15th place.
