Steve Allan Wins at the Boeing Classic

Australian golfer Steve Allan won the Boeing Classic, adding his second victory in three participations within the PGA Tour Champions and the third so far this season.

Allan sealed his triumph with a birdie on the last hole, completing the day with a score of 65 strokes, seven under par, and leading Stewart Cink by one stroke.

In the 18th hole, a par 5, Allan holed a five-foot birdie putt, then waiting for Cink’s performance. The latter, one stroke behind at the start of the final hole, failed to overcome a bunker, finishing with a par and a score of 70.

Allan, 51 years old, finished the tournament with a cumulative score of 15 under par, totaling 201 strokes.

Previously, Allan had been crowned champion at The Galleri Classic, held in the Californian desert of Mission Hills in March, and also at the Dick’s Open, held last month in Endicott, New York.

Ernie Els and Darren Clarke shared third position with a total of 13 under par, both recording rounds of 66 strokes. Alex Cejka was one stroke behind, after a round of 67.

The local favorite, Fred Couples, finished in 47th place, with a cumulative score of 1 over par, after a round of 75. Couples, 65 years old and originally from Seattle, made only his seventh appearance of the season.
