Before the race, Piastri was ahead of Norris by 22 points, while Verstappen was 63 points behind the Australian. Verstappen won the sprint race, which awards eight points, meaning he arrives at the United States Grand Prix 55 points behind the McLaren leader. McLaren has insisted that Verstappen remains a contender in the fight for the championship.I haven’t seen the incident from the television cameras. Obviously, I had a very good start. We were both quite deep into Turn 1, I tried to cut across and I got hit, so… It’s not a great way to start the day, but I need to take another look.
