McLaren presents a new retro image for the upcoming races in Monaco and Spain.
The McLaren team has unveiled a retro “image upgrade” that will be used in the next two Formula 1 races, specifically in Monaco and Spain. This special design is based on the McLaren M7A, the first McLaren single-seater to win a Formula 1 race in 1968 and the first to sport the team’s characteristic papaya orange.
The inspiration also comes from “the elegance of the Riviera”.
The design includes white markings on the rear and top of the chassis, with the drivers’ numbers, reminiscent of the look of the M7A driven by Bruce McLaren.
The presentation of this new image took place at an event organized by the cryptocurrency sponsor OKX on a yacht in the port of Monaco on Wednesday.
Drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will also use special designs for the Monaco weekend.
McLaren has chosen to modify its image in the Monaco weekend in recent seasons.
Last year, the team presented an image inspired by Ayrton Senna, while in 2021, they sported the colors of their then sponsor Gulf.
The British team currently leads the constructors’ championship with 132 points, while Piastri surpasses Norris by 12 points in the drivers’ standings.
