Marko: Red Bull doesn’t give up in the fight for the F1 title

Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has assured that the team will not abandon the fight for the Formula 1 championship until mathematics makes it impossible for Max Verstappen. This statement comes after Christian Horner’s departure as team principal. Marko, apparently, dismisses suggestions that this change could signify a focus on the 2026 season.

“Christian and I have worked together very successfully for over 20 years, both in Formula 1 and Formula 3000. I would like to sincerely thank Christian for that,” Marko said.

In the image, Helmut Marko pays tribute to Christian Horner after his departure from Red Bull. Marko added that during that time they celebrated “an incredible number of outstanding achievements.” They helped develop two world champion drivers and several Grand Prix winners. “That has always been, and still is, the Red Bull way.” “Regarding the current sporting situation: there are still twelve races left, and we will continue fighting for the drivers’ championship as long as it is mathematically possible.” These statements come after Verstappen, third in the standings and 69 points behind the leader, seemed pessimistic about defending his title. Marko himself told Austrian television last month that the team might have to “write off” the title if things didn’t improve. There was no mention on Thursday of the constructors’ standings, where Red Bull is far behind McLaren. Turning around a disappointing season is just one of the many urgent demands Mekies faces on his first full day as the new Red Bull team principal.
