Charles Leclerc: “It’s not a pleasant feeling” after the Singapore Grand Prix

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc expressed his disappointment after the Singapore Grand Prix, calling the team’s current situation “not a pleasant feeling.” Leclerc, who finished in sixth position, lamented the lack of competitiveness of his car against his rivals. Ferrari has yet to achieve a victory in the 2026 season, while McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes have each secured at least two wins, with recent victories following the summer break. In the Singapore Grand Prix, Mercedes’ George Russell took the victory, while Leclerc and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, struggled with brake issues, finishing in sixth and eighth place respectively.

From lap eight, basically, it was about managing those brakes. It made our race very, very complicated.

Leclerc was honest in evaluating Ferrari’s position in the competition:

Unfortunately, we don’t have the car to fight with those in front. McLaren has always had the same gap to us compared to the beginning of the year. Red Bull took a step forward from Monza and is at the same level as McLaren.

Charles Leclerc
The Ferrari driver added that Mercedes is now at the same level as McLaren and Red Bull, while Ferrari feels like “passengers in the car”, unable to extract more performance. Leclerc also commented on the difficulty of managing expectations and the lack of progress during the season.

Every time you don’t fight for victories, it’s difficult, but obviously, coming from a year like the past, where you are fighting for the World Championship, the Constructors’ Championship, and then you come here with high expectations.

Charles Leclerc
The driver concluded that the current situation requires a lot of energy, but that this motivates him even more to change the situation. However, he admitted that it is difficult, especially after a race like the one in Singapore, where he couldn’t fight for the podium and had to manage many problems.
