Leclerc Laments Ferrari’s Performance in Singapore

Pilot Charles Leclerc expressed his disappointment after the Singapore Grand Prix, where Ferrari failed to compete for the top positions. Leclerc admitted that the current situation is “difficult”, especially after a season with high expectations. Leclerc, visibly frustrated, pointed out that the lack of competitiveness of the Ferrari car is evident when seeing his rivals fight for victories. McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes have achieved victories, while Ferrari has yet to achieve any in 2026. In the Singapore race, Mercedes’ George Russell took the victory, while Leclerc and his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, struggled to finish in sixth and eighth place respectively, due to brake issues.

From lap eight, basically, it was about managing those brakes. It made our race very, very complicated.

Leclerc assessed Ferrari’s situation in terms of competitiveness.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the race car to fight with those in front. McLaren always had the same difference with us compared to the beginning of the year. Red Bull took a step forward since Monza and the same level of McLaren. Mercedes is now at the same level as McLaren and Red Bull, and then there’s us, and, obviously, it’s not easy, because you want to fight for better positions. But right now, it feels like we’re passengers in the car and we can’t extract much more than what there is to save for the rest of the season.

The Ferrari driver recalled how last year the team fought against McLaren in the constructors’ championship, a battle that extended to the last race. This year, Ferrari has not matched the pace of McLaren, who already secured the championship with six races remaining. Leclerc commented on the season, saying that every time you don’t fight for victories is difficult. He acknowledged that after a year competing for the World Championship, expectations must be adjusted. When asked about managing the disappointment of a season like 2025, Leclerc replied that it requires a lot of energy, but that, instead of demotivating him, it drives him to change the situation.

It’s very tough, especially after a race like today’s, where you’re not even fighting for a podium, you have to manage a lot of problems. It’s just not a good feeling.
