Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc did not attend the media day ahead of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix due to feeling unwell on Thursday, but is expected to return to the paddock in time for Friday’s two practice sessions.

Charles is not feeling well and will not come to the track today. He will rest and focus on recovering and we hope he will be in the car tomorrow.

Drivers are generally required to attend the circuit on the Thursday before the race weekend to speak to the media and attend engineering meetings. However, it is not uncommon for a driver to skip media day if they are not feeling well, with the aim of being fit for the start of track action on Friday.

After Ferrari’s complicated start to the season, Leclerc is currently in fifth place in the drivers’ standings, with a best result of a third place in Saudi Arabia.

He finished seventh in the last race in Miami, although the attention after the race focused on the moment of the team orders that saw him swap positions twice with his teammate Lewis Hamilton towards the end of the race.

This weekend’s race in Imola is the first of two in Italy this year in front of Ferrari’s home fans.
