Hamilton and Gasly: A Revealing Encounter After the Sprint in Qatar

DOHA, Qatar – Lewis Hamilton revealed a curious conversation with Alpine’s Pierre Gasly after the sprint race in Qatar, where the performance of Ferrari was discussed. Ferrari’s performance in the Qatar Grand Prix began in a complicated way, with Charles Leclerc in 13th position and Hamilton in 17th during the sprint race.

I don’t know how, but we’ve made the car worse.

Hamilton, who had qualified in 18th place, only outperformed Gasly and his teammate Franco Colapinto in the classification. Gasly, who closely followed the Ferrari for most of the race, expressed his surprise at what he observed of the red car.

Pierre approached me afterwards and said: ‘Wow, you look terrible!’. And I replied: ‘Yes, I know, don’t tell me’

Alpine is in the last position of this year’s championship, with only 22 points throughout the season. Ferrari is heading for another season without a Grand Prix victory, the third in the current decade. A video on board of Leclerc’s chaotic return to the track, where he struggles to keep the car on the track, circulated on social media immediately after the race. Leclerc agreed with his teammate about the car’s condition.

He definitely did it. I have no idea how that happened from the classification until today.

Leclerc
When asked if he could list the areas where the car needed to improve before Sunday’s Qatar Grand Prix, Hamilton’s response was simply: “I’ll be here all day.” Hamilton joined Ferrari with high expectations at the beginning of the year, but the enthusiasm quickly faded, with Ferrari losing pace to McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes.
