Attention Formula 1 fanatics! Pierre Gasly has secured his future with Alpine, extending his contract until the year 2028. This news arrives at a crucial moment, anticipating the arrival of new regulations in 2026 that promise to revolutionize the competition.
Gasly: Alpine’s Star Driver
Gasly, who joined Alpine in 2023 with an initial agreement until 2026, is now projected as the key piece to lead the team in this new era. The announcement was made before the Italian Grand Prix, an emblematic race for Gasly, where he achieved a memorable victory in 2021 with AlphaTauri. This long-term agreement contrasts with the situation of his teammate, where uncertainty persists. Franco Colapinto replaced Jack Doohan in Imola this year, but still has not secured a seat for next season. Although Alpine is currently at the bottom of the table, the team is optimistic about the switch to Mercedes engines for next season. This change, along with Gasly’s experience and leadership, could mark a turning point. In the announcement, Gasly highlighted the importance of Alpine’s CEO, Flavio Briatore, and the new Renault CEO, François Provost, who replaced Luca de Meo earlier this year. The team has emphasized that Gasly is the “leading driver” for the new regulatory stage.
Alpine

Gasly is recognized as one of the most outstanding drivers in the field, with the potential to compete for the championship with the right car. Alpine is optimistic about its return to competitiveness under the new regulations and with the boost of Mercedes engines. Briatore stated that Gasly will be the center of the team in the future:“I am excited to commit my long-term future to Alpine. As a Frenchman, especially, driving for a French car company, I am very proud. Since I joined in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the right place for the future. The support of Flavio and his trust in me, François’ commitment to the Formula One project, as well as the people we have in Enstone, made this a natural decision and I want to be here in the coming years and achieve our joint goal: to win races and world championships. We are all in this together and I look forward to continuing this special story.”
Pierre Gasly
The team hasn’t yet defined who will be Gasly’s teammate for next season. Colapinto is still an option, and Paul Aron is also in the sights. Sources indicate that Doohan is considered the least likely to join the team in 2026, given his short participation this season. Briatore has admitted to having mismanaged Doohan’s time on the grid.“Since I returned to the team, I have always said how important it is to build and increase the competitiveness of the BWT Alpine Formula One team. We are well prepared for the new Formula One era, which begins in 2026, and now we have our lead driver confirmed to take us into the future. Pierre has been a great asset to the team during this challenging period. I have been very impressed by his attitude, dedication and talent and we look forward to continuing this project together for a long time”.
