Formula 1 has announced its race calendar for the 2026 season, highlighting the addition of a Grand Prix in Madrid and the departure of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola.
The calendar, composed of 24 races, was approved by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) during a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council.
The inclusion of the new race in Madrid was announced in 2024, although its incorporation into the calendar is subject to the homologation of the circuit by the FIA.
This new addition implies the exit of Imola, which held the last race of its current contract in May, to keep the number of races within the self-imposed limit of 24 by F1.Madrid debutará en el calendario de Fórmula 1 2026, reemplazando al GP de Emilia Romagna en Imola. In addition to the incorporation of Madrid, the Monaco date has been moved from its traditional position at the end of May to the beginning of June, which prevents it from coinciding with the Indianapolis 500.
The Canadian Grand Prix has moved to a new date at the end of May, allowing the freight used in the Miami Grand Prix to remain in North America instead of returning to Europe.
The inaugural race of the season will take place on March 8 in Australia, with the remaining races distributed over 10 months, concluding with the final race in Abu Dhabi on December 6.
The 2026 season will be the first to run under a new set of regulations, including revised hybrid engines that derive 50% of their power from a battery and 50% from an internal combustion engine running on sustainable fuel.
You will also see the incorporation of Cadillac as the eleventh team on the grid, the Sauber team renamed as Audi, and Ford joining forces with Red Bull as an engine manufacturer.
Three races are maintained in the United States, including the Miami Grand Prix on May 3rd, the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, on October 25th, and the Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 21st.
