Analysis of Bold Predictions in Formula 1 for 2025

Formula 1, like any high-competition sport, is full of analysis and predictions. At Alofoke Deportes, we delve into the bold predictions prior to the 2025 season, a year that promised strong emotions. Now, taking advantage of the August break, we evaluate how these predictions have unfolded. Did we get it right? Did we get it wrong? Join us on this journey.

Verstappen Out of Red Bull?

The original prediction suggested the possibility of Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull, considering the team’s performance and potential doubts about the partnership with Ford. A change of scenery for the star driver was speculated. While this prediction didn’t come to pass, the scenario came close to materializing. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff saw an opportunity to sign Verstappen, especially given the difficulties Red Bull was facing. However, a clause in Verstappen’s contract, which allowed him to leave if he was fourth in the championship, was not activated. This prediction is, for now, discarded. Although, if Red Bull doesn’t improve its performance in the next season, this possibility could resurface.

Leclerc vs. Hamilton: Who Would Win More Races?

The expectation was that Charles Leclerc, adapting more quickly to Ferrari, would surpass Lewis Hamilton in victories. However, the analysis focuses on the sprint races, where Hamilton achieved a victory. As for the grand prix, neither Leclerc nor Hamilton have won this year. Leclerc has shown superior performance, while Hamilton has expressed frustrations. With Ferrari seeking to regain its competitiveness, the possibility of Leclerc winning multiple races before the end of the year still exists.

Piastri Leads the Championship

The prediction that Oscar Piastri would lead the championship by the time the summer break arrived proved to be accurate. Piastri stayed ahead of Lando Norris. The Australian driver has shown great performance, overcoming the inconsistencies of previous years. Norris, on the other hand, has had mistakes that have affected his performance. Although he has improved before the break, Piastri remains the favorite.

Alonso on the Podium with Aston Martin?

The prediction that Fernando Alonso would take Aston Martin to the podium has not materialized. The team has not achieved the expected results, and Alonso has not performed as desired. Aston Martin is in the middle of the table, far from the leading teams. Despite the arrival of a high-level technical team, the focus seems to be on the 2026 season.

Would a Rookie Win a Race?

The prediction that a rookie would win a race was based on the potential of Kimi Antonelli and Liam Lawson. However, Lawson was relegated to the Red Bull junior team. Antonelli has shown flashes of talent, but Mercedes’ only triumph was for George Russell. With Lawson at Racing Bulls and Antonelli as the only hope, the prediction could still come true, although it is more likely that Russell will repeat if Mercedes positions itself to win.
