Fernando Alonso: The Mission to Return to Competitiveness with Aston Martin
The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso has expressed his firm intention to ensure that Aston Martin regains its competitiveness before his retirement. Although he does not rule out a promising future for the team, Alonso remains realistic about the process. Alonso, who will turn 45 in 2026, the year his contract with Aston Martin ends, is focused on the team’s development. Aston Martin’s ambitious boss, Lawrence Stroll, has set his sights on the new F1 regulations that will come into effect next season, with the aim of turning the team into a title contender. Stroll has secured an exclusive agreement with Honda for engine supply starting next season and, earlier this year, guaranteed the services of Adrian Newey, a legend in car design. The driver highlights the importance of having the right personnel and facilities. “We have the right people and we have the right facilities. All the tools are there, so it’s up to us. At the same time, I understand that Formula 1 needs some time for everything to integrate,” he added.“I feel it’s very possible, for sure,” Alonso declared about the possibility of winning races again with Aston Martin.
