Women’s Boxing: Kim Clavel Rises in Strawweight Ranking After Victory

Kim Clavel Conquers World Title in Two Divisions

Canadian boxer Kim Clavel (22-2, 3 KOs) made history on Saturday by becoming a two-division world champion, after defeating Sol Cudos (10-1-2, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision and obtaining the IBF strawweight title. Clavel achieved this feat at the Theatre St-Denis in Montreal, in front of his audience, with scorecards of 99-91, 99-91 and 98-92. His speed and combination of punches were decisive, outperforming his opponent in numerous exchanges during the fight. This triumph boosts Clavel two positions in the strawweight rankings, now placing her in the number 3 spot, while Cudos drops to fourth place. In another outstanding fight, two-time Canadian Olympian Tamm Thibeault (4-0, 3 KOs) knocked out Cristina Mazzotta in the first round, in her first professional fight in her home province. Thibeault, number 1 contender of the IBF and WBA, moves up one place in the middleweight ranking, positioning herself at number 2, and is emerging as a future star.

Rankings are updated every Tuesday, based on recent fights, head-to-head matchups, and the quality of opponents. Given the subjective nature of rankings, especially until boxers face each other, a variety of factors are considered.

Boxers who have not fought in the last 18 months and have no scheduled fights will be removed from the rankings until they compete again. The updated classifications for the different weight categories are presented below:
