The British heavyweight boxer, Lawrence Okolie, has offered his help to Jake Paul to prepare for his expected fight against Anthony Joshua, even proposing sparring sessions with the YouTuber turned boxer.
The Paul vs. Joshua showdown, scheduled as an eight-round professional bout with 10-ounce gloves in Miami, was recently announced. It will be Joshua’s first fight since September 2024, following his knockout loss in the fifth round to Daniel Dubois.
Former cruiserweight champion Okolie (22-1, 16 KOs) is in full preparation for his own fight, which will coincide with the Paul-Joshua event on December 19 in Nigeria. This fight will mark his return to the ring after suffering a biceps injury in the first round in July.
Okolie added that he would like Paul to experience firsthand what it’s like to be in the ring with a world-class boxer in the heavyweight category. Okolie reflected on Paul’s audacity in facing a boxer of Joshua’s caliber. Okolie, who has already had sparring sessions with Joshua, did not rule out the possibility that the fight will extend beyond the first rounds, despite widespread expectations.I want to help Jake Paul, give him a chance. I want to go to Puerto Rico. I don’t want him to get destroyed in a round or something like that if AJ wants it.

Okolie speculated that Joshua might not seek a quick knockout, but warned that if Paul manages to land significant blows, the situation could become more tense. Okolie concluded that, although he recognizes the difference in level, nothing can be ruled out in boxing.I’m not going to pretend there isn’t a huge difference in size, skill, and many other things. But, crazier things have happened. So, we’ll see.
