The junior lightweight division had intense activity over the weekend, with three of the top ten boxers competing. Additionally, the welterweight category welcomed a new contender.
Emanuel Navarrete achieved a technical decision victory over Charly Suárez, avoiding a possible disaster. A controversial cut above his left eyebrow interrupted a very entertaining fight. After the fight was stopped at the beginning of the eighth round, Navarrete retained his WBO junior lightweight title thanks to the judges’ scorecards. He maintains the top spot in the division, while Suárez makes his debut in the rankings, placing at number 10 after giving the champion a tough battle, almost achieving a major upset. Anthony Cacace remains in second place after his impressive technical knockout victory in the ninth round against Leigh Wood. For his part, Andrés Cortes retains the ninth position, after his unanimous decision victory over Salvador Jiménez.
Souleymane Cissokho enters the welterweight ranking in tenth place, after overcoming two knockdowns to obtain a decision victory over former champion Egidijus Kavaliauskas. Another welterweight boxer, Giovani Santillan, remains in eighth place after his decision victory over Ángel Beltrán.
In the lightweight division, Raymond Muratalla had an outstanding performance by defeating Zaur Abdullaev, but this was not enough to move up from his number 8 position.
Boxing rankings by division highlight the best in the sport in each weight class. These rankings are updated based on the most recent results and performances. Boxers who have announced their move to a new weight class will be ranked in that new division, if applicable, only after competing in it. Boxers currently holding titles in two divisions may be ranked in both.
Boxers who have not competed in the last 12 months, and who do not have a scheduled fight, will be removed from the rankings until they fight again. Any boxer who tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance will also be excluded. This boxer may re-enter the rankings after their next fight.
