Jake Paul Approaches His World Cup Dream

Jake Paul is getting closer to achieving his desire to become a world boxing champion. The World Boxing Association (WBA) has positioned Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) at number 14 in its rankings. This achievement comes after his victory on Saturday against former middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr. Now, the social media influencer turned professional boxer has the possibility of challenging Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez, WBA cruiserweight champion, for a world title. Before the fight, the WBA had indicated that it would consider including Paul in its ranking if he managed to defeat Chávez Jr. Paul, 28 years old, outperformed Chávez (54-7-1) during the ten rounds, obtaining a unanimous decision at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. In the co-stellar event, Ramírez defended his WBA and WBO titles. Paul is one position ahead of American Craig Parker (20-0, 20 KOs), who recently competed in heavyweight on April 1st, achieving a knockout victory. He is also positioned below Italian Giovanni Cristian Scuderi (12-0, 5 KOs), who hasn’t participated in cruiserweight fights since September 2022 and has focused his last four matches in the heavyweight category.
