Collazo and Fundora Shine with Commanding Victories in Anaheim

Oscar Collazo and Gabriela Fundora showcased their supremacy by retaining their titles with impressive technical knockout victories on Saturday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Furthermore, on the same card, former interim champion Arnold Barboza Jr. impressed in his welterweight debut, securing a unanimous decision over Kenneth Sims Jr.

Collazo Retains His Crown with Absolute Dominance

The unified strawweight champion, Collazo (14-0, 11 KOs), defended his WBA and WBO titles, exerting constant pressure on Jesús Haro’s body, forcing his corner to stop the fight at the end of the sixth round. Haro offered little resistance as Collazo increased the intensity, showing that his opponent couldn’t hurt him. After three rounds, Collazo, originally from Puerto Rico, began to punish Haro’s body with powerful blows, causing gestures of pain with each impact. Haro (13-4, 2 KOs) chose to retreat and cover himself.
Oscar Collazo outlanded Jesus Haro 128-38 in a one-sided stoppage victory to retain his WBA and WBO strawweight titles.
Haro, visibly exhausted after six rounds, remained in his corner for the seventh round, resulting in Collazo’s fourth consecutive victory by stoppage. Collazo connected 128 of 287 punches (44.6%) compared to Haro’s 38 of 229 (16.6%).

Fundora Achieves a Resounding Victory in Flyweight

Fundora (18-0, 10 KOs) consolidated her position as the undisputed flyweight champion with a stoppage victory over Viviana Ruiz. Fundora, using her height and reach, secured her fourth consecutive stoppage victory. Ruiz, 43 years old, couldn’t generate much offense against the flyweight queen. Fundora, 23 years old, used her jab and movement to keep Ruiz (10-3, 5 KOs) at a distance, preventing her from finding opportunities to attack. In the fifth round, Fundora sent Ruiz to the canvas with a left hook, setting the stage for the conclusion. In the sixth round, Fundora attacked his rival, and referee Ray Corona stopped the fight. Fundora has hinted at the possibility of dropping down to the 108-pound category, which could pose a challenge for her future opponents. Her main goal is to ensure the satisfaction of the fans with her dominance and ability to finish fights.

I just want the fans to go home saying, ‘Damn, he got another knockout!’

Barboza Jr. Returns with Welterweight Victory

Barboza (32-1, 11 KOs) returned to the path of victory against Sims after suffering his first professional defeat against Teofimo López in May. Barboza outperformed Sims in almost every aspect, suffering little damage, apart from a cut from a clash of heads. He appears to be a formidable competitor in the 147-pound division. He took control of the fight from the beginning and kept his distance, not letting Sims develop a sustained attack. Barboza controlled the distance and connected combinations, not allowing Sims to get close. The judges scored the fight 117-111, 118-110, and 120-108 in favor of the fighter from Long Beach, California.
