Julio César Chávez Jr. Arrested and in Deportation Process
Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez Jr. was detained by U.S. immigration agents and is in the process of deportation, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Thursday. The DHS revealed that Chávez, a Mexican citizen, has an active arrest warrant in Mexico. This warrant is related to his alleged involvement in organized crime and trafficking of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.Chávez, who was still in the United States after his recent fight against American Jake Paul in Anaheim, California, was arrested by ICE in Studio City on July 2, according to the DHS.“Under the Trump presidency, no one is above the law, including world-famous athletes,” stated DHS Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
