Conor Benn Dominates Chris Eubank Jr. in a Dominant Rematch
A convincing victory by unanimous decision over Chris Eubank Jr. could be more significant for Conor Benn (24-1, 14 KOs) than even winning a world title. The rematch, filled with tension, took place on Saturday and saw Benn take revenge on his rival.
Benn managed to knock down Eubank (35-4, 25 KOs) twice in the final round, securing the victory with scores of 119-107, 116-110 and 118-108 in a middleweight fight with no title at stake.
Benn, 29, took advantage of a slow and lackluster performance by Eubank to avenge the points defeat suffered seven months ago. This confrontation revived the historic rivalry between their fathers, who starred in epic fights for world titles in the 1990s.
Eubank, 36, did not show the energy, variety of punches or explosiveness of his first encounter. Benn’s dominance took the drama out of the fight, until a brilliant finish.
Benn sent Eubank to the canvas first with a left hand, then with a series of punches before a right hand knocked him down again. Eubank got up, but knew the fight was lost.
