‘Doggy’ Barrios Detained After Incidents in Neighborhood Tournament

Buenos Aires – The Argentine footballer Cristian Nahuel ‘Perrito’ Barrios, currently on loan at Barracas Central and belonging to San Lorenzo de Almagro, was arrested by the police after an altercation at a match in a neighborhood tournament this Sunday. Police sources report that Barrios, 27, was arrested on charges of threats and firearm abuse, after a confrontation where he and two other people were injured by gunfire.

The incident unfolded during a sports tournament in Dock Sud, Avellaneda municipality, in the southern zone of Buenos Aires. The dispute involved two players from rival teams, one of them identified as ‘Santi’ Barrios, cousin of ‘Perrito’.

According to police reports, ‘Perrito’ Barrios allegedly used a firearm, firing several shots. As a result, Leila García, 24, and referee of the tournament, suffered four gunshot wounds.

In the altercation, Pablo Godoy, 30, with two gunshot wounds, and ‘Perrito’ himself, who was shot in the left thigh, were also injured.

The three injured were admitted to Fiorito Hospital. The Barracas Central player remains under police custody and is expected to be taken to court on Monday to give a statement.
