Los Angeles Angels and Anthony Rendon Negotiate Contract Exit

The Los Angeles Angels and third baseman Anthony Rendón are in talks to terminate the final year of his contract, according to sources close to the team. This negotiation could end the seven-year, $245 million deal that did not meet expectations.

Rendon, who spent the entire 2025 season recovering from hip surgery, is expected to retire, according to the source.

The 35-year-old player has a payment of 38 million dollars pending in 2026. Although the possible termination of that remaining money has not yet been finalized, and situations like this are often complicated, the expectation is that Rendón will postpone at least part of that money. This would give the team greater financial flexibility to address its needs in this offseason.
