The current champion, Carlos Alcaraz, advanced to the fourth round of the French Open after a tough match against Damir Dzumhur, with a score of 6-1, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in the Friday night session.

The Spanish tennis player, seeded number two, had never played against Dzumhur before, a 33-year-old Bosnian who had never advanced past the third round in a Grand Slam tournament.

I suffered quite a bit today. The first two sets were under control, then he started playing with more depth and aggressiveness. It was really difficult for me.

Dzumhur suffered a left knee injury and received treatment on his right leg during the set change in the third set. Despite the physical difficulties, Dzumhur offered notable resistance.

The crowd at the Philippe-Chatrier court showed their support with the Mexican wave and shouts of “Olé”. Dzumhur received applause for his plays, including an improbable smash.

Alcaraz finally secured the victory on his second match point and will now face Ben Shelton, ranked number 13, in the fourth round.
