Charlie Woods Wins at the AJGA Team TaylorMade Invitational

Young Charlie Woods, son of golf legend Tiger Woods, continues to forge his own path in the world of sports. Recently, Charlie won the prestigious American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Team TaylorMade Invitational tournament, held at the Streamsong Resort Black Course.

At just 16 years old, Charlie demonstrated his talent and determination by completing the final round with an impressive score of 6 under par, totaling 66 strokes. This performance secured him first place in a field of 71 players, including four of the top five AJGA players.

This victory marks a significant milestone in Charlie’s young career, being his first AJGA title in five events. His previous best result had been a tie for 25th place at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, in March.

Charlie Woods, who started the week in 606th place in the AJGA ranking, finished the tournament with a cumulative score of 15 under par, achieving a total score of 201 strokes in the three rounds. His final round was marked by eight birdies and two bogeys, and culminated with four consecutive pars, securing the victory by three strokes over his competitors.

Charlie started the day tied for second place with a cumulative score of 9 under par, after a first round of 70 strokes (2 under par) and a second round of 65 strokes.

Despite his recent success, Charlie already had several previous victories, including his first triumph in the 14-15 age category at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Major Championship in June 2023. Subsequently, he won the Last Chance Regional tournament that same year.

In an attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open earlier this month, Charlie failed to advance through the qualifying stage, carding a score of 75 strokes (3 over par).
