Hamilton: Piastri on his way to the F1 title, McLaren shines in Monaco

Lewis Hamilton, the most decorated driver in Formula 1 history, has expressed his admiration for Oscar Piastri’s performance, highlighting his potential to conquer his first world title.

Hamilton, who achieved his first championship with McLaren, praised Piastri’s work in his third season in the competition.

It’s incredible to see McLaren doing so well, because that’s where I started. And also to see them so close, him and Lando, these two great drivers.

Piastri, representing McLaren, has demonstrated outstanding performance, winning four of the seven races held and leading his teammate Lando Norris by 13 points before the Monaco Grand Prix.

Hamilton, now at Ferrari, commented on the pressure faced by drivers, especially those seeking their first championship.

The pressure on both of them will be unimaginable, I would say, for most people who are not experiencing it or have not experienced it.

Hamilton added that Piastri is doing everything necessary to win the championship and advised him to continue on the same path.

Piastri has had an impressive streak, with consecutive victories in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Miami. In addition, he achieved pole position in Imola, although he couldn’t secure the victory due to Max Verstappen’s performance.

The Australian driver, who also won in China, finished third in Imola, with his teammate Norris in second place.

Piastri, speaking with reporters, mentioned that Imola was a reminder that not everything will go according to plan, but that the team will continue to work hard.

In Monaco, Piastri will seek to emulate his Australian compatriots who have won on the circuit, including Jack Brabham, Mark Webber, and Daniel Ricciardo.

There is a lot of Australian history in this place. It would be good to add another chapter.
