Julio Rodríguez, Last-Minute Scratch for the Mariners
Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez was scratched from the lineup for Thursday night’s series opener against the Houston Astros.
The team did not provide a specific reason for their absence, but announced that there would be an update after the match.
Rodríguez hit a three-run home run in Wednesday’s 6-5 victory over the White Sox. In addition, he participated in batting practice on the field on Thursday before the change in the lineup was announced, approximately 30 minutes before the start of the game.
The 2022 American League Rookie of the Year currently has a batting average of .231, with nine home runs and 28 RBIs.
Following this modification, Leody Taveras moved from right field to center field, and Miles Mastrobuoni was included in the lineup to play in right field, batting eighth in the batting order.
