David Adelman, new coach of the Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets have reached an agreement to name David Adelman as their next head coach.
Adelman achieved a 3-0 record in the regular season after taking over as interim coach, replacing Michael Malone. In addition, he led the Nuggets to victory in a playoff series, defeating the LA Clippers in seven games.
Although the Nuggets failed to advance to the Western Conference finals, losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the seventh game of the conference semifinals, the management was impressed with Adelman’s work.
Sources close to the team indicated that the decision to offer him the full-time position was quick. On the other hand, they will take some time to decide on the general manager position.
I am very proud, apart from the franchise championship in 2023.
Josh Kroenke
The team’s governor, Josh Kroenke, who made the decision to fire Malone and general manager Calvin Booth last month, expressed his enthusiasm for the team’s response under Adelman’s direction.
Adelman, who turned 44 last week, had developed good relationships with Denver’s key players during his eight seasons as an assistant coach before Malone’s dismissal.
Aaron Gordon, veteran power forward, praised Adelman saying that “he was excellent for us, and I hope he’s here next year.” Nikola Jokic, the star center, commented that Adelman “made us believe in something, and we played well.”
