Brock Purdy Signs Million-Dollar Extension with the 49ers

After a 2024 season that left a bittersweet taste, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has secured his future with the team by signing a five-year, $265 million contract extension.

Purdy, who expressed his desire for a quick agreement, managed to finalize the negotiation in record time, before the team’s organized activities.

Being here since day one was a big emphasis for me, regardless of having a contract or not.

The new contract includes $181 million guaranteed and a no-trade clause, something unprecedented in the history of the franchise. With an annual average of $53 million, Purdy ranks among the seven highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.

Despite not reaching the highest figures compared to other recent agreements, Purdy prioritized the team’s ability to keep other key players. His new contract represents less than 19% of the salary cap, which will allow the 49ers to maintain a competitive team.

Purdy emphasized the importance of building a strong team, with a great locker room and talented players, beyond obtaining the most money possible.

The speed with which the agreement was finalized is a relief for the organization, which in the past has had difficulties closing contracts of this magnitude before the start of the regular season.

Purdy, who was playing golf when he heard the news, can now focus on helping San Francisco recover after a complicated season.

The quarterback assured he was fully recovered from the injuries he suffered last season and ready to lead the team.

This is just my story. I am extremely grateful to be in this position. And I am more excited than anything to want to keep improving and help this organization win.
