Raúl Asencio and Former Colleagues Processed for Dissemination of Intimate Videos

The Investigating Court number 3 of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, in Gran Canaria, has formalized the indictment of Raúl Asencio, Real Madrid’s defense, along with his former teammates from the club’s lower categories, Andrés García, Ferrán Ruiz and Juan Rodríguez.

The accusation focuses on the recording and dissemination without consent of sexual images of two women, one of them a minor.

The High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) reported that the judge in charge of the case has issued the ruling that concludes the investigation phase, opening the way for the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the private prosecutions to file charges and request the opening of a trial.

Indications of Serious Crimes

The investigating judge has found evidence of several crimes, including the discovery of secrets without consent and violation of privacy (Article 197.1 of the Criminal Code), distribution and sending of the videos to third parties without consent (Article 197.3), as well as the capture or use of minors for pornographic purposes and possession of child pornography (Article 189, 1 and 5 of the Criminal Code).

The TSJC statement did not reveal the names of the footballers, but it did confirm that the decision affects the four individuals involved in the investigation.

The events occurred on June 15, 2023, in a tourist complex in the south of Gran Canaria, where the soccer players met the two accusers, aged 16 and 18 at the time.

According to the complaint, the sexual relations were consensual, but permission was not granted to record or disseminate the images, something that allegedly occurred via WhatsApp.

The second young woman also reported the dissemination of a video of sexual content, allegedly recorded without her consent.

Asencio’s defense argued that their client did not participate in the recordings and that there is no evidence of the video he is accused of sharing.

Asencio’s lawyer, Juan Gonzalo Ospina, did not make any statements, but sources close to him confirmed that appeals will be filed against the court ruling.

The car allows the defenses and accusations to present reform resources.
