Diamond DeShields Cut by Connecticut Sun

The Connecticut Sun have made the decision to cut Diamond DeShields, former All-Star and WNBA champion, according to reports revealed this Thursday.

The WNBA regular season will begin this Friday, with the Sun team facing the Washington Mystics at home on Sunday.

DeShields, 30, signed a one-year contract with Connecticut in February.

In 2024, DeShields averaged 4.5 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 32 games (10 starts) with the Chicago Sky.

Throughout her career, DeShields has averaged 11.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 175 games (118 starts) with the Sky (2018-21, 2024) and the Phoenix Mercury (2022). She missed the 2023 season due to a knee injury.

In 2019, DeShields was selected for the All-Star team and won the WNBA championship in 2021 with the Sky, who selected her with the third overall pick in the 2018 draft.
