Jack Hughes Leads Devils to Victory Over Maple Leafs

In an action-packed night, Jack Hughes shone with his third hat-trick in the NHL, leading the New Jersey Devils to a resounding victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs with a score of 5-2.

Cody Glass and Brenden Dillon also contributed to the score for the Devils, while goaltender Jake Allen made 23 crucial saves. Jesper Bratt stood out with three assists, demonstrating his ability to create scoring opportunities.

The Devils have maintained an impressive streak, winning five consecutive games after an initial loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

On the Maple Leafs’ side, John Tavares and Matias Maccelli managed to score goals, but their efforts were not enough. Goalie Anthony Stolarz made 30 saves, but Toronto’s defense had difficulties containing the Devils’ attack.

William Nylander provided two assists for the Maple Leafs, who have suffered two consecutive losses and four in their last six games, after a season-opening victory.

Toronto took a 1-0 lead after the first period, but the Devils responded strongly, scoring three goals in the first five minutes of the second period, to the disappointment of the fans present at the Scotiabank Arena.

Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev suffered an upper-body injury during a penalty kill situation in the second period, following a collision with Devils center Dawson Mercer.

Toronto challenged New Jersey’s first goal for goaltender interference, but the initial call stood. The Devils capitalized on the resulting delay of game penalty, and Glass scored the second goal, moments after Tanev retreated to the locker room.
