Real Madrid close to securing Trent Alexander-Arnold
Real Madrid is about to finalize the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold, from Liverpool, according to sources close to the club. This move would allow the defender to travel to the United States to participate in the Club World Cup.
For the transfer to go through, both clubs must agree on a compensation fee. The English international’s contract with Liverpool expires on June 30. The Anfield club has requested a sum to release him, which would be around 1 million euros (approximately 1.1 million dollars).
In addition to reinforcing the right-back position with Alexander-Arnold, Real Madrid also aims to strengthen the center of defense and the left-back.

The club considers that both positions need greater quality and additional players, with the defense being the most vulnerable part of the team this season.
The names of Álvaro Carreras and Dean Huijsen have been discussed, although their high prices, 60 million euros (66.7 million dollars) and 50 million euros (55.6 million dollars) respectively, are a drawback, which has led Madrid to consider other options.
Another highly-rated player is William Saliba. Real Madrid has been following the Arsenal player since his loan to Marseille in 2021.
However, his contract expires in 2027, and the high cost of a transfer would imply waiting to negotiate with Arsenal in a year, or waiting for him to become a free agent.
Additions to the center of the field have also not been ruled out, with the aim of covering a key position that Madrid misses after Toni Kroos’ retirement last summer.
It remains to be seen what will happen regarding the outputs.
Several players are expected to leave the team, which will also affect potential signings, although club sources indicated that they do not foresee a major renewal of the squad.
It is reported that Madrid is finalizing an agreement for Xabi Alonso to be their new coach as soon as possible, with the aim of having him in charge of the team for the Club World Cup.
