Colts Lose Charvarius Ward to Concussion and Placed on Injured Reserve

The Indianapolis Colts have moved their standout cornerback, Charvarius Ward, to the injured reserve list. This decision will keep him out of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers and, at a minimum, the following three games.

Ward suffered his second concussion of the season. The incident occurred during the pre-game warm-up against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6, after a collision with tight end Drew Ogletree.

Ward’s absence exacerbates the problems of a secondary that has faced numerous injuries since the preseason. The Colts had already lost rookies Justin Walley and Hunter Wohler to season-ending injuries during the preseason. In addition, they are awaiting the return of Jaylon Jones, who has been on the injured reserve list since Week 1 due to a hamstring injury.

Slot cornerback Kenny Moore II is expected to return from an Achilles tendon injury on Sunday. However, it’s unclear how much he will play after missing three weeks.
