Colts Lose Charvarius Ward to Concussion
The Indianapolis Colts have placed their standout cornerback, Charvarius Ward, on the injured reserve list. This will keep him out of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers and, at a minimum, the following three games.
Ward suffered his second concussion of the season after a collision with tight end Drew Ogletree during pre-game warmups against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6. Ward remained on the ground for a considerable amount of time before recovering and being helped off the field.
Ward’s demotion to the injured list exacerbates the problems of a secondary that has been plagued by injuries since the preseason. The Colts lost rookie defensive players Justin Walley and Hunter Wohler to season-ending injuries in the preseason. In addition, they are still awaiting the return of Jaylon Jones, who has been on the injured list since Week 1 due to a hamstring injury.
The slot cornerback, Kenny Moore II, is expected to return from a hamstring strain on Sunday, although it’s unclear how much he will play after missing three weeks.
