Mascherano Admits Mistakes After Inter Miami Defeat

Inter Miami CF coach Javier Mascherano admitted this Monday the need to correct key aspects after the recent 4-1 defeat against Minnesota United. This result, which adds to a negative streak, represents the team’s worst loss in an MLS match, where Lionel Messi was present.

I’m not going to be hypocritical and say that everything is fine, because obviously we don’t like to lose. I understand that we have lost four of the last five games and there are things to correct.

Inter Miami prepares for its next away match against San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday. The team comes into this match with an unfavorable record, having lost four of the last five matches in all competitions in the last three weeks. This is the team’s worst streak since the beginning of 2024, when they suffered a five-match winless streak.

Mascherano pointed out that individual errors and lack of attention have been significant factors in the 14 goals conceded in the last five matches, rather than a collective defensive problem.

Looking ahead to the midweek match, the team, currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, has focused its efforts on strengthening team cohesion and chemistry to achieve a comeback.

I think there’s nothing better than spending these four or five days together right now, being together, talking, doing teamwork, sharing moments that are not common during the season, but that are important at certain times.

On Monday, co-owner David Beckham expressed his discontent with some social media posts from Minnesota United and requested that Saturday’s winners show “a little respect”.
