AUSTIN, Texas – Lando Norris has been held accountable by McLaren following the incident with Oscar Piastri at the Singapore Grand Prix. The team has announced that there will be “consequences,” although what those are has not been specified. Norris was close to colliding with his teammate and championship rival, Piastri, during the race in Singapore. The incident occurred after Norris had to dodge Max Verstappen. Despite this, Norris managed to stay ahead of Piastri until the end of the race.
The team held me responsible for what happened, which I think is fair. We have made progress in understanding the repercussions to prevent something worse from happening.

Norris explained that the team implemented some kind of punishment:Lando has taken responsibility, and so has the team. It’s clear to us as a team that the first lap didn’t go as we wanted.

When asked again if there would be consequences, Norris responded affirmatively. Piastri was also consulted about the consequences, but indicated that this information was exclusive to the team. The rule is not to collide with each other. This was not a collision, it was something much smaller, but we still don’t want to get to that point because it causes these kinds of things, and that’s never good. The team and we want to prevent those things from happening again. Simply because there was contact between two McLaren cars.
