Buffalo Sabres Seek Their First Win
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo Sabres managed to take the lead for the first time this season, thanks to an unusual shot.
During a power play in the first period, Jack Quinn fired a powerful shot from the area that, although initially missed the target, rebounded off the glass and ended up going into the goal, hitting the back of the goalie Leevi Merilainen.
Tim Stutzle tied the score for Ottawa in the same period.
The Sabres have suffered defeats in their first three games of the season, with a combined score of 10-2. They fell 4-0 at home to the New York Rangers and 3-1 both in Boston and at their own stadium against Colorado. The team has never started a season with an 0-4 record, although they did have difficult starts in 2017 (0-4-1) and 2013 (0-6-1).
