Unification Fight: Alimkhanuly vs. Lara in December

An exciting unification showdown in the middleweight category is scheduled for December 6th. Janibek Alimkhanuly and Erislandy Lara will face off in the event preceding the main fight between Lamont Roach Jr. and Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, which will take place at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.

The event will be part of PBC’s pay-per-view on Prime Video.

Alimkhanuly, current IBF and WBO champion, will face Lara, holder of the WBA title. This fight promises to be a clash of titans in the ring.

Lara (31-3-3, 19 KOs) is coming off a victory in September 2024, where he managed to stop Danny Garcia. At 42 years old, the Cuban is the oldest champion in boxing and maintains an undefeated streak in his last seven fights. His last defeat dates back to 2018, against Jarrett Hurd.

For his part, Alimkhanuly (17-0, 12 KOs) secured a technical knockout victory in the fifth round against Anauel Ngamissengue in April. The Kazakh boxer has finished ten of his last eleven opponents before the limit. He has held the WBO title since 2022 and added the IBF belt in 2023, after knocking out Vincenzo Gualtieri. Lara represents a significant challenge in his career, seeking to add the WBA title to his record.
