Ben Joyce Placed on 60-Day Injured List

ANAHEIM, California – The Los Angeles Angels have transferred reliever Ben Joyce to the 60-day injured list due to a shoulder injury, according to sources.

The 24-year-old right-handed pitcher, known for his impressive velocity on the mound, had previously entered the 15-day injured list on April 11 due to shoulder inflammation.

Joyce attempted to pitch on several occasions, but the discomfort persisted, forcing him to halt his progress. He is scheduled to undergo further medical tests next week.

It’s just not getting better. It’s frustrating for me and for everyone involved. I just want to pitch and be part of the team.

Joyce, who began the season as Kenley Jansen’s primary setup man, posted a 1-0 record with a 6.23 ERA in five games. Last season, he was 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 31 appearances.

The absence of Joyce has significantly affected the bullpen, leaving manager Ron Washington with only two reliable pitchers to secure leads in the final innings.

When he got hurt, it affected us, and we’re still trying to find our rhythm in the bullpen. He’s an impact pitcher. He was the kind of player we could use to finish an inning, give us another inning, and we miss that.

Ron Washington

Washington has not yet defined who will take responsibility for maintaining the advantages in the sixth and seventh innings.
