Satou Sabally Out of Action Due to Concussion in WNBA Finals

Phoenix Mercury star Satou Sabally has been diagnosed with a concussion and will not participate in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals this Friday, the team announced on Thursday.

The Mercury are down 3-0 against the Las Vegas Aces in the best-of-seven series, after their Wednesday loss with a score of 90-88, during which Sabally suffered the injury.

Sabally was injured after falling while going for a rebound with 4:26 left in the game. Her head hit the leg of Aces defender Kierstan Bell. A foul was called on Aces’ Jackie Young, but after the referees reviewed it, the foul was not changed.

Sabally remained on the court for several minutes and appeared dazed as she left the field with the help of her teammates and Mercury staff. She did not return to the game, finishing with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

This is Sabally’s first season with the Mercury, after spending her first five seasons with the Dallas Wings, who selected her at number 2 in the 2020 WNBA draft.

She has led the Mercury in scoring throughout the postseason, averaging 19.0 points per game.
