Jack Draper adds Jamie Delgado, former coach of Andy Murray, to his team

British tennis player Jack Draper has announced a significant change in his coaching team. Draper, currently number one in Great Britain, will work with Jamie Delgado, who was previously Andy Murray’s coach. This incorporation marks a new chapter for Draper, who previously collaborated closely with James Trotman. Although Trotman will remain involved, Delgado will assume the role of head coach and will accompany Draper in most tournaments. Delgado, former British Davis Cup player and holder of the record for consecutive Wimbledon appearances with 23, began working with Murray in 2016. During that period, Murray experienced one of the most successful stages of his career. Delgado remained on Murray’s team until the end of the 2021 season. Subsequently, he coached Denis Shapovalov and Grigor Dimitrov, who praised Delgado’s impact.

The collaboration between Draper and Delgado will begin in the preseason. Draper is currently in the process of recovering from a left arm injury that has limited him to playing only one match since Wimbledon. After his elimination in the second round at the All England Club, Draper was diagnosed with bone contusion. His attempt to return at the US Open was thwarted, and he had to withdraw before the second round, forcing him to end his season early.

This ended the 23-year-old tennis player’s aspirations of participating in the ATP Finals for the first time, and Draper dropped to eighth place in the ranking during his absence.

Draper is expected to return to the court at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown Grand Final in London in December.
