Aaron Judge leads the Yankees’ comeback with an epic home run
In a night full of emotions at Yankee Stadium, Aaron Judge once again demonstrated his worth as the undisputed leader of the Yankees. With a three-run home run, the New York captain orchestrated a spectacular comeback that culminated in a 9-6 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, in Game 3 of the American League Division Series.
The game seemed destined for a bitter defeat for the Yankees, who were down by five runs in the early innings. However, the situation took a radical turn in the fourth inning, when Judge hit a ball that impacted the foul pole in left field, tying the score and unleashing euphoria in the fanbase.One inning later, Jazz Chisholm Jr. extended the lead with a solo home run, solidifying the euphoria in the Bronx. With the season on the line, the Yankees exhibited character and determination, avoiding elimination and tying the series.
Starting pitcher Carlos Rodón struggled, allowing six runs, including another home run by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Toronto was dominating until the New York bullpen came into action, silencing the Canadian offense.
Judge, with an outstanding postseason performance, shone again at the crucial moment. His home run, against a 99.7 mph fastball, was the first recorded in the pitch tracking era (since 2008) against such a fast and inside pitch.
The Yankees manager highlighted the importance of Judge’s hit, stating that “that swing changed everything.” The captain not only excelled with the bat, but also with a spectacular catch in right field, demonstrating his total impact on the game.
Ben Rice contributed a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to extend the lead, while the bullpen completed 6.2 innings of scoreless relief. With this victory, the Yankees forced a decisive Game 4 in the Bronx, which will be played on Wednesday night.
