Jordi Alba Retires: Spanish Legend Hangs Up Boots After Season at Inter Miami

Inter Miami defender Jordi Alba has announced his decision to retire from soccer at the end of the 2025 MLS season. The Spanish left-back shared the news via his Instagram account.

“The time has come to close a truly significant chapter in my life. I have decided to end my professional football career at the end of this season,” Alba expressed. “I do it with complete conviction, peace, and happiness. Because I feel that I have traveled this path with all the passion I had and now is the right time to open a new chapter and close the previous one with the best possible feeling.

In his message, Alba thanked his teammates, coaches, club staff, and rivals who pushed him to give his best. He also highlighted the clubs that marked his career:

Jordi Alba reunited with his former Barcelona teammates, Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets, at Inter Miami in 2023. Alba arrived at Inter Miami in July 2023, from Barcelona. The defender played a fundamental role in the club’s recent success, including winning the 2023 Leagues Cup and the 2024 Supporters’ Shield, as well as setting a league points record. In his three seasons in MLS, Alba recorded 10 goals and 27 assists in 63 regular season matches, often connecting with Messi to inspire victories for Inter Miami. Alba concludes a distinguished 16-year career. During her 11 seasons at Barcelona, she won six LaLiga titles and one Champions League, with 37 goals and 107 assists in 605 matches across all competitions. With the Spanish national team, he won the Euro 2012 and the UEFA Nations League 2023.
