Coach Enzo Maresca has stated that conquering the Conference League this season would mean that Chelsea is back.

The London team has one foot in the final after a resounding 4-1 victory against Djurgarden in the first leg of the semi-final last week.

Chelsea, who had to go through the playoffs to qualify for the third-tier European competition, played their last European final in 2021, when they beat Manchester City 1-0 to lift their second Champions League trophy.

Now, they can become the first team to win all three European competitions if they add the Conference League to their trophy cabinet this month.

It is very important for us, for different reasons. But mainly because we want this club to win trophies. Winning a trophy is a statement and then it could be said that Chelsea is back.

Maresca added that if they play in the Conference it’s because that’s where they are. And if they play in the Conference, the only trophy they can win is the Conference. I think it’s a good starting point.

Maresca confirmed that Chelsea has no injury problems ahead of Thursday’s second-leg semi-final, adding that midfielder Marc Guiu could also be involved with the team.

The Spanish teenager, who joined last summer from Barcelona and is Chelsea’s top scorer in the competition with six goals, missed the last three months due to a hamstring problem.

Perhaps it’s better for Marc to have a few more days of training, but he’s very close to returning to us.
